Salem’s Lot 2024: Horror review

  • Genre: Horror, mystery
  • Duration: 1 hour 53min
  • Aired: 2024

An author returns to his hometown in search of for inspiration his next book. Shortly after his arrival, a young boy goes missing, prompting the townspeople to discover they are being haunted by vampires.

The settings

While I’m not well-versed in the settings, I do know that “Salem’s Lot” takes place in Jerusalem’s Lot, Maine, also known as Salem’s Lot. I appreciate that the film is set in a small town, which creates a serene atmosphere, even though the town itself is anything but peaceful. It’s intriguing how everyone knows each other and spreads rumors quickly, adding to the town’s entertainment value. Despite its picturesque quietness, the residents are oblivious to the vampire threat lurking among them. I adore the settings.

The acting

Each character is well-defined though the acting could use improvement. The character I found least appealing is “Mark Petrie.” He is the friend of the boy who went missing before his brother died and turned into a vampire. I found his overly forward nature somewhat irritating at times, as he comes across as too brash, despite being smart and fearless. The actor portraying him is quite good-looking, though.

The scares

“Salem’s Lot” isn’t particularly scary; it may be unsettling for those who rarely watch horror or dislike gruesome themes and jump scares. However, if you’re a fan of intense horror, you likely won’t find “Salem’s Lot” frightening at all.

If you’re in the mood for something a bit spooky but not too intense, check out Salem’s Lot! It’s a great way to enjoy some thrills without diving into full-on horror. Perfect for a chill watch! Enjoy! 🍿👻

My star rating for Salem’s Lot
