The Invitation (2022): Review
I’ve always wanted to discuss The Invitation (2022), but I keep forgetting. The Invitation is a 2022 American horror thriller film directed by Jessica M. Thompson and written by Blair Butler.
For me, this film isn’t truly horror; I see it as a supernatural story because it revolves around a young woman who discovers a new family, unaware that they are vampires.
Yes, vampires. This is why I classify the film as supernatural, as viewers won’t realize it’s a vampire film until nearly the end. In fact, some parts are genuinely terrifying and might lead you to believe that the manor in the film is haunted. That’s what I thought before the vampires revealed themselves.
I believe a significant amount of money was invested in this film due to its settings and luxurious presentation, which left me astonished while watching. I was curious about how the manor was discovered.
The film’s duration is satisfying, and I appreciate the storyline, particularly the romance between Evie (the main character) and Walter De Ville (the manor’s owner). Oh, Jesus, he’s incredibly attractive. Everything about the film is perfect. The wives of Dracula, (Dracula owns the manor he’s Walter De Ville), are beautiful.
The characters were thoughtfully chosen, and they all fit their roles exceptionally well. I was disappointed by the deaths of the vampires, especially Lucy (the second wife of Walter); she’s such a delightful and charming character. I didn’t care for the film’s ending, as it was unclear whether Evie remained a vampire.
If you’re in search of a horror film that combines spine-chilling thrills with spiritual depth, look no further. This film is sure to you both terrified and contemplative long after the credits roll. 🔥🙏👻
If you’re also into goth vampire films *The Invitation* is for you.
