Microsoft don’t support nigeria country code

I received a suggestion to add my phone number to my Microsoft account so I could recover it in case of any issues. I followed through, but the immediate response was, “We don’t support that country code. Add an email instead.” This really frustrates me because Microsoft should be able to determine the country associated with an email and not prompt users from unsupported countries to add a phone number. It stresses me out, why is Niger’s country code even on the list if they don’t support it? It’s incredibly bothersome.

It wouldn’t be as annoying if Nigeria’s country code wasn’t listed, like how other companies handle this issue by avoiding unnecessary stress for users. I prefer that approach because then I wouldn’t waste time creating accounts on websites that don’t support Nigerians; instead, I’d simply seek alternatives that do since there are plenty available. So why does Microsoft include Nigeria’s country code if they can’t support us? Honestly, I’m at a loss for words; I’m so frustrated after trying to add a phone number only for it to be rejected immediately.

Furthermore, online they keep repeating the same information in their community. “To add your phone number, do this, go there, go here, and so on.” Why can’t they just get straight to the point when their website has already done so?
